CINEMA – After Johnny Depp, it’s Timothée Chalamet’s turn to put on Willy Wonka’s costume. This Sunday, October 10, the 25-year-old Franco-American actor shared a first photo of himself as the astonishing chocolatier invented by Roald Dahl.
“The suspense is unbearable, I hope it will continue,” writes the young man in the caption of said shot, posted on his Instagram account. The top hat, the burgundy velvet jacket and the mischievous look: everything is there.
Directed by Paul King, to whom we owe in particular Paddington, the film Wonka should look back on the youth of the confectioner, already played on screen by Gene Wilder (1971) and Johnny Depp (2005), and on how he found himself at the head of the most incredible chocolate factory.
This is not a recent project, it seems it has been under consideration for several years in Hollywood. Even though the date of March 17, 2023 has been brought forward for the release, the shooting has indeed started as evidenced by the photo of Timothée Chalamet, who will reveal in this film his talents as a dancer and singer.
According to Variety, the cast also includes in its ranks the actresses Olivia Colman (The Father, The Crown) and Sally Hawkins (The shape of water, Blue jasmine), as well as Keegan-Michael Key (Playing with Fire) and Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean).
